TransformDRC Staff Prayer Requests Amid Ebola Outbreak

Background:

Those in eastern DR Congo have been through so much. Now Ebola threatens once again.

One ministry leader in Congo wrote this week:

“Since last Saturday morning, the Congolese border has been closed, and we do not know for how long. We will keep updating you as things develop. Thank you, dear friends, for taking time to pray.

Now we are like someone fleeing from a lion, only to enter a lake and meet a crocodile there.

So please keep praying.”

Those words capture the exhaustion many are feeling after years of war, instability, displacement, and now another Ebola outbreak.

TransformDRC Response:

The outbreak has forced our TransformDRC team in Goma to pause training conferences for the safety of participants and staff. Confirmed cases have been reported in Bunia, Goma, Kinshasa, and throughout Ituri Province, where the outbreak is believed to have begun.

At the same time, our brothers and sisters continue serving faithfully amid fear and uncertainty.

Prayer Request:

Please pray that the outbreak would be contained quickly, that those affected would receive care and protection, and that ministry work can safely continue in the days ahead.

The TransformDRC Staff in Goma specifically asks prayers for:

  • God’s intervention as there is no vaccine and no medicine, but our God is able to protect,
  • Resilience of people who are already affected by wars, and now Ebola brings more suffering and trauma,
  • The authorities, especially those in medicine domain for God to show them new ways to handle this critical situation,
  • Peace – because there is fighting here and there in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces,
  • People’s finances as poverty has increased and will increase more and more,
  • The borders between DR Congo and Rwanda, and those between DR Congo and Uganda can be opened because the closing of these borders affect people who were doing their business by crossing borders and those who were traveling by passing through Kigali and Entebbe International airports,
  • Food because famine in families will increase because the food and nonfood prices have already increased at the market, and all these are in addition to the critical war situation we are undergoing.

Thank you for your prayers.
